The financial impact of endpoint breaches can be substantial, with costs including data recovery, system downtime, and potential regulatory fines
In 2023, the digital landscape faced significant security challenges, with a total of 3,122 data breaches affecting 349,221,481 victims. Additionally, there were 25 data exposures impacting 960,700 individuals, 2 data leaks compromising 2,696,728 people, and 56 unknown compromises affecting 148,984 victims.
Interestingly, 40% of these breaches were identified by benign third parties or outsiders, while 33% were detected by internal teams and tools. Alarmingly, 27% of breaches were disclosed by attackers themselves as part of ransomware attacks.
These statistics highlight the critical need for robust cybersecurity measures and vigilant monitoring to protect sensitive information in an increasingly connected world.
